Koli


From the Province of Eastern Finland, region of North-Karelia can be found one of the most beautiful Finnish landscapes. These breathtaking landscapes have been an inspiration for Finnish artist for over 200 years and it has offered people possibilities to refresh their selves up for over 100 years.

In 1991 Koli National Park was established to protect different kinds of surroundings and biotopes and burn-beaten and traditional agriculture. National Park is 30 sq. km and it includes forest area, landscape area and cultural area. Highest point of Koli is 347 meters above sea level. In winter time you can experience the Finland’s longest public ice road on the ice of Lake Pielinen.

Koli offers an opportunity to try many different winter sports on fresh air like downhill skiing, snowboarding and walking with snowshoes.

Koli (N 63º05’46’’, E 29º48’17’’) is located 510 km North from Helsinki, the Capital of Finland. Nearest bigger town Joensuu, is 70 km South from Koli.

Venue


The conference venue is in Visitor Centre Ukko in Koli. In Visitor Centre Ukko you can familiarize yourself with the information of Koli’s heritage landscape and Eastern Finland’s wooded hills and culture in the exhibition space.

Ukko has an auditorium for 200 people, free Internet point, reference library, media studio, nature-theme shop, cafeteria and restaurant.
